For twenty-six years, Shankar Subramaniam was a professor of engineering engaged in research and teaching, while living a parallel life before dawn and on weekends: immersed in meditation and Sanskrit texts, and in the circle of seekers who gathered around him in satsang. Those two lives, the academic and the contemplative, have always been one. His meditational practice based on deep insight into the Vedic and Tantric traditions, his decades of guiding spiritual aspirants, and his knowledge of Vedic Sanskrit form the foundation of everything he writes. Now a “fully- recovered” academic, executive coach, blues musician, and taekwondo blackbelt, his varied life experiences enrich his storytelling.

After publishing numerous research articles in archival journals and a book in his technical area, Shankar has completed his first work on spiritual fiction.

Sailboat On Calm Lake

Bliss is not something to be gained. It is something to be uncovered, and it has always been there.

I wrote this book to inspire you to find Bliss in your life. If this book gives every reader a single burst of inspiration or a feeling of joy, wonder, and

happiness at reading it, or even a smile at recognizing something that resonates with their lived experience, I believe it will have amply served its purpose!
