The Philosophy of Grow with the Flow
Grow with the Flow is based on a few simple concepts. The basic idea is that deep fulfillment comes from value-concordant behavior; behavior that comprises thought, word, and action. Action flows effortlessly when there is an alignment of purpose and passion, and in this flow state work becomes play. Lack of self-awareness, guidance, and meaningful reflection leaves most people thinking, speaking, and acting without knowing their true self or their true purpose. The consequence is deep discontent that also goes by other names such as ennui, angst, and anomie. Discontent by itself is not bad, but if left unattended for a long time it is the precursor to dis-ease: a state of not being at ease, in the intellectual, emotional, mental, or physical body. In certain cases it can also result in addiction to substances and behaviors, which are coping mechanisms to deal with discontent but not useful or healthy. Discontent is simply the obverse of deep fulfillment, and is very useful as it can be a potent force that drives self-discovery. Self-discovery involves knowing one's true self and clarifying one's notion of the truth. Awareness of these in the space of auspicious reflection leads to clarity regarding one's life purpose and to true resolves. Alignment of one's passion and energy with purpose, by the removal of internal obstacles, leads to good actions that engender deep fulfillment. This is a concise summary of the basic Grow with the Flow philosophy.
In order for self-discovery to happen, the body, breath (energy), mind, and intellect have to be prepared through practice. This practice requires changing existing habit patterns of the mind and the body that are not useful. This requires steady commitment to uninterrupted practice. Self-discovery does not happen all at once, and is not a 'one and done' deal for most people. In order to make it accessible to a wider audience, Dr. Shankar has designed a sequence of courses that make this possible in bite-sized increments. The Unlocking Excellence masterclass is the first step of this sequence. Each student can then co-create with the course facilitator a course sequence that suits their personal journey. Subsequent steps can lead through other courses on Personal development, Envisioning, Executive Presence, or Purpose-driven Decision-Making. Some students find that repeating the masterclass or other classes leads to new insights and further growth.
The result: living with purpose, stronger relationships, a renewed ability to lead with authenticity, focus, and resilience.
